UNDERSTANDING ALKALINE WATER
The water that is slightly basic than regular tap water or drinking water is referred as Alkaline Water. It contains basic minerals such as calcium, magnesium, or bicarbonate. These compounds bind to hydrogen ions in solution, making the water more basic. Generally, the pH of alkaline water is higher that makes it less acidic in nature. The natural sources of Alkaline Water are usually springs or a reservoir of natural water underneath the earth’s surface. The rock structures holding the water may have basic minerals, such as calcium or limestone, that leak into the water, increasing the pH value of watery concentration that flows across.
ADVANTAGES OF DRINKING ALKALINE WATER
A number of studies have claimed the beneficial health effects of alkaline water consumption. For instance, it has been observed that oral administration of alkaline ionized water causes a reduction in blood levels of glucose, cholesterol, and triglyceride and improves metabolic functioning by suppressing free radical production in mice which are induced with a metabolic disorder. Moreover, it protects pancreatic beta cells from oxidative damages. Alkaline water also helps in reducing the rate of weight gain in obese mice by regulating cholesterol homeostasis.
